I'm baaaacck!!

Good morning everyone!! Holy cow, talk about an unintented blog hiatus, whoops!! I have been so insanely crazy busy I have not even had a chance to catch my breath, and I'm not sure the rest of the summer is going to slow down at all either! I will just do a quick overview of what I have been up to the last couple of months.

-Two more weeks were spent in Houston
-1 Week was spent in Tulsa
-1 long weekend with Mr. Man's family
-1 long weekend visiting sissy face in Chicago
-1 weekend in Austin and Dallas for a friends wedding
-Not to mention we finally found our dream house and moved in between all of this!!!!!
I am still in shock that we are homeowners but I'm sure once that first mortgage payment is made it will feel like something for real.
over the next couple of blog posts I will go into greater detail of the great trips I have been fortunate enough to be able to go on and take you on a tour of the new digs.
Soooo glad to be back with yall, YEAH!!!
Happy Hump Day everyone!

FINALLY

Every single time I think life could not get any more crazy, it goes and does another flip! I have spent the last month (very last minute) in Houston helping my company do some research. I literally would pack my bag on Saturday or Sunday night and fly out the next day for 5 or 6 days...talk about exhausting! I finally got home last week and spent the whole entire week unpacking, doing laundry and 'attempting' to get back on track at work, wowza! To add insult to injury I would try to spend the weekend with Mr. Man and the realtor house hunting! Guess what? We did it!!! We did it, the house is purchased, well as of close on May 25th. I still am in complete awe. Not to mention appliance hunting is pretty darn overwhelming too. I feel like I fianlly might be able to settle down a little bit when work surprises me again and I leave for Tulsa tomorrow...FOR REAL!? It has been soo crazy, but crazy/busy is always great in my book. Can't wait to be back in Colorado for a little while and celebrate being half way to 26 (!?) this weekend. Finally back to some reagularly scheduled programming, I promise!

We are on the hunt...

For a house that is!! Mr. Man and myself have been on the hunt for about a month now for the perfect starter home for the two of us. Let me tell you how excited I was to begin this process, that is until we are now knee deep in decisions and talking about more money than I could have ever imagined!! My goodness, you want to put how many zeroes into that space?? So far it has been an eye opening experience and it has been wonderful to look at different potential homes and thinking about the life we will start together, it is all just too much sometimes!! It is frustrating and rewarding and luckily today we are going to look at a place for the second time. Everyone cross your fingers for us! It is rather difficult to come to reality and realize that the house you are actually able to afford is not going to look a whole lot like the house in the movie Father of the Bride...sad sad!!

Where am I??

Holy cow it has been a crazy whirlwind of 3 weeks at my house. Last minute I was asked by my company to depart Denver for in 3 days time to Houston, come home for the weekend, and depart once more on Monday night for another 4 day stint. Wowza!! If any of you know me personally you know that I am absoloutely 100% TERRIFIED to fly. I have no idea why, it is one of those unexplainable fears. Anywho, not too exciting to fly for me especially when I may or may not break down in a massive panic attack in front of 6 co-workers. To me that just equals total awesomeness! Where do I sign up. Enough of the boring details, I end up working 15-18 hour days while I am in Houston and completely exhausted by the time I get home. Poor Mr. Man was landing in Oklahoma City, while I was taking off from Houston so I didn't get to see him :( Cue the violin music please, hehe. Anyway, week 2 was about the same work wise, we kicked some serious bootahy and boarded the plane back home late late Thursday night. I swear to you the only thing that got me back on that plane and through the rest of last week was knowing that Colorado Rockies Opening Day was on Friday!!!! Lucky for me, my office offers 1/2 day Friday's so I took full advantage of that and happily skipped down to Coors Field!! It was an amazing day!! Great weather, great friends, and I may or may not have indulged in a hot dog and embarassingly enough an ice cream cone too!! WHAT!?? I had a rough two weeks!:) Regardless, I am back with a blogging vengence, so get excited for a summer full of fun activities, travel, and excitement. Hope you are all well!

A decision is made!

After tons of discussions and waaay too many hours searched on the internet, Mr. Man and myself have decided to bite the bullet and go on a fabulous beach getaway to HAWAII!!! AHHHHHH, I seriously cannot even wait. I am too excited to sleep and when I finally do get to sleep I dream of a fruity cocktail with a little umbrella inside, fresh smelling plumeria and sandy beaches for miles. Do you ever have to check yourself and think how you ever got so lucky!? Recently I have been pinching myself every single day. Life is busy and filled with such great opportunities you can't help but take a step back and realize how lucky you are to live the life that you do. Thanks for the input and more to come this week (I promise) of some of the fabulous beach details!

California Dreaming....

Or something like that at least! I am dying for a beach getaway, my goodness. Mr. Man and myself are trying to pick a budget friendly beach destination for a couple days and let me tell you something, that's NOT an easy feat! Loves me some Mexico but been there done that. I would basically give my left arm to be tooling around the Italian countryside, sipping wine one day, and laying on a Grecian beach the next, however, that is not in this gals budget :(. So where do I go?? The caribbean? Costa Rica?? Perhaps a nice beach getaway in the states?? HELP! What are your favorite vacau spots??

Ahhhhh, wishful thinking!

I swear this picutre is the only thing getting me through the cold dreay day today!
Total side note, however, I bought my first pair of skinny jeans last weekend and I simply cannot get enough of them! Happy weekend everyone!

Its A Party For Your Feet!

Listen up ya'll! Is there anything better than looking down at your shoes on any particular day and just know that your feet are happy with your choice of shoe today?? I know that if I had these two pairs of shoes my feet would be have a PAR-TAHY all day long. I have decided that these shoes are past want in my book but have moved on to a flat out NEED!! They are way to fabulous to pass up!

Flat out fabulous!!

Snow Day!?

I have been praying to the snow gods all afternoon hoping for a snow day tomorrow!! Most of the schools around Denver have already closed and my office is closing early, so can it be that tomorrow is a fun filled day spent romping around in all of the fluffy white stuff!?? If everyone out there can please get out of your chairs and do the snow dance with me that would be most greatly appreciated!!! PLEASE!!! If there is no snow day tomorrow we are looking at facing bone chilling temperatures of -18 without windchill and playing ice capades with our cars...Nothing good!!! So please please please SNOW!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend and ya'll are staying warm and cozy!

I finally did it!

I finally bit the bullet and signed up for a road race. I have been talking about running my first half marathon going on three years now and have never done it!! So I decided enough was enough and I took the first step. I signed up to be on a relay race for the Colfax Half Marathon in Denver this summer. I opted to get my 10K race out of the way before the summer marathon so I will be running a little over 6 miles. I better get my booty to a gym STAT!! I have always been the type of person to need a little motivation in my life. If I say I am going to do something I need to have an end goal in sight, not just oh yeah this year I will do it. I need a firm date of when I will complete this, just the way I do things I suppose. Not only is it my first ever 10K but it is also on the morning of my birthday, I'm thinking this one could not get any better. Have any of you had good experiences with road races, or horror stories for that matter??

I have chosen to work with Hal Higdon's novice training schedule to ensure that I stay on track with my training and that I kick some booootay in my first half marathon. Here's to 13.1 in 2011~!

Thanks goodness that's over!

I don't know about you all but I am breathing a sigh of relief that all of the holidays are over. Call me Scrooge but I had my Christmas tree down the day after Christmas and all of my gifts were put away instead of displaying them proudly under the tree for another week. Quite honestly I was just really anxious to get back to my real life. I like my schedule and I like my daily routine, what can I say, I'm boring.

New Year's came and went and there was not too much excitement, just good friends at an un-crowded bar sharing in merriment and a few drinks, it was good. Of course Mr. Man decided he needed to go skiing up in Breckenridge on New Year's Eve Day, even though it was slated to be a bone chilling -25 degrees, for real!! I obliged because I told him he would learn his lesson sooner rather than later. I have skied these slopes my whole life, the mountains have never once left my sight except when I am on vacation, I do not feel pressured to get a million ski days in for one season...for goodness sakes we have already gone 8 times, phew!!! But like I said I went, I skied run one and....I went to the bar with the girls. Are you all shocked?? I wasn't doing it. I gave it my best shot and I gave up, yup I said it, I GAVE UP!! Here's to a better ski weekend coming up and a little bit of warmth in these moutains of ours...brr!! Happy Hump Day everyone!

Happy Holidays!

I can't believe Christmas has come and gone and we are on to New Year's already!?? I swear when you get older the days and years for that matter go by so much faster, man oh man! I had a wonderful Christmas this year that was spent in Denver and the mountains. I got some great skiing in and spent some time with my great family. I am still deciding what to do for New Years...I HATE New Years, blech! No thanks!! I am debating going over to a friends house with Mr. Man in tow and just grilling steaks on the Bar-B-Que or just staying home and cooking a fabulous dinner just the two of us and drinking wine. I can't quite decide. What are you all doing for New Years?? Any big travel plans??
I am going to catch you all up on the last couple weeks of festivites through pics...enjoy!

We had a great turn out at our 3rd annual ugly Christmas sweater cookie Exchange...I found the most hideous night gown that I turned into a dress, it was phenomenal to say the least.

PS, I got Mr Man the sorel boots he has been dying for...DORK, lol.
A little ski date up in Vail, and yes we may or may not have similar jacket, I swear I have had mine for a lot longer than he has :)
Another great date weekend up in Breckenridge where we were able to get some great early season skiing in.
A final shot of the great mountain of Breckenridge...really wish I was there right now instead of at work, yuck!!

HELP!!

I am in some serious need of some advice for Christmas ASAP!!! I have to tell you that Mr. Man is the hardest person to shop for ever! He wants floor mats for his new car for Christmas, seriously this is not a joke. Instead of buying him the floor mats (thank goodness I didn't order them becuase they ended up coming with the car) I went ahead and bought him his very own pair of Sorel snow boots. Yes, he is that nerdy and I love it :) However, the most brilliant idea popped into my head this morning that I should buy tickets to go see his beloved Oklahoma Sooners play the Connecticut Huskies at the Fiesta Bowl in AZ. It is close enough that we could actually drive and I found a killer deal on Ebay for some great seats. The only problem is that Mr Man is a little upset with his Sooners becuase of their past bowl game appearances. Needless to say there have not been too many victories in the past couple games he has been too. So do I go ahead and buy the tickets anyway, taking the chance his team will lose and we drove 10 hours to watch it? (Hello Missouri all over again!) Or do I stick with some sweet new rubber boots for the snow??? Help me!!
Thanks!!!

It's That Time Again!

That's right folks, its cookie party time!! This is W and I's 3rd annual cookie party extravaganza and the baking as begun!! We could not be more excited to get together with all of our great friends and share yummy recipes and perhaps a cocktail or two around our beautiful Christmas tree. This is always one of my favorite times of the year becuase it gives everyone an excuse to gather around and eat tons and tons of stuff you normally wouldn't eat. Oh yeah and see people you haven't seen in a long time, that too :) Here is a yummy list of all the great things W and I will be baking/making this year for our party.
-Cream cheese dessert ball (my mouth is watering even thinking about it!)
-Sugar Cookies
-Cake balls
-Cream Cheese with Pickapeppa and wheat thins (sooo good, you must try it!)
-Bruschetta
-Queso (Loves me some cheese)
-Classic Veggie tray
-Puppy chow
-Chocolate covered Pretzels (homemade of course)
-Cream Cheese and Salomi tortillas (sounds weird, but again soo delish!)

That about covers it! I promise I will be back on Monday with a full recap with pictures and everything along with a re-cap of our great weekend spent in beautiful Vail, Colorado! Have a great weekend ya'll!

It's Christmas Time

I can't believe it is already December, time flies!! W and myself are preparing to put up our Christmas tree tomorrow evening, I know a little bit behind the 8 ball on that one, whoops! It has been surprisingly warm here in Denver today so it doesn't feel like the first day of December. Here are a few things I am looking forward to this month:
-Looking at all the festively decorated houses throughout Denver
-Listening to Christmas music at work and not getting glared at for doing so!
-The smell of fresh cut X-mas trees
-How extra beautiful the mountains look with a bit of snow on top
-Eating some extra sweets and not feeling too guilty about it :) (I might have indulged in a few today, shh told tell)
-Baking and decorating Christmas cookies!
-Watching the Parade of Lights go through downtown and seeing the little kids faces light up
-Dew tour in Breckenridge
-Being surrounded by family and realizing how lucky you are to have such great relationships with everyone
-Purchasing presents for all of your loved ones and really putting the time and effort into each individual gift
-Finally CHRISTMAS DAY!!! I can't wait and may have a mental counter in my head that is ticking away as each day passes. Something similar to what we all had when we knew Santa was coming soon! Haha.
Hope everyone has a great first day of December. Great things are coming this month!

That's all she wrote

Very short and quick post today folks, busy busy as usual. However, I would just like to say how excited I am to watch those crazy Sooner football players take on the Corn Huskers in this weekend's BCS championship game! Bring it on! Just a sidenote...I actually had to flip back and forth from the game on Saturday against OSU, it was waaay too intense for my liking. I thought I was going to have to pop a few Xanax, hahaha.

Hopefully you all got you your fill of yummy food and great family memories! Just a few more weeks till Christmas, I can hardly wait!

BOOMER SOONER BABY!!!

Lately...

Pretty much I have just been trying to keep my head above water, busy busy busy bee!! I love to be busy and function much better when I have a million things on my plate, but this may have put me over the edge. Work has been INSANE!!! I do actually enjoy what I do for the most part but we are so far behind on a lot of things and have received so much activity this year that it is darn near impossible to keep up. Anyway, enough complaining!
I have to tell you about my awesome trip up to Breckenridge this last weekend. The weekend before last W, Mr. Man, my friend H, and myself all piled into the car at quarter after six for a fabulous day of skiing. Considering it is still early season (like really really early season) the snow was AWESOME!! We all had a great time and we left a little early to miss the ski traffic, so I was still able to get in an epic nap on the couch! For real is there anything better??

Now onto the good stuff. This past weekend was busy busy as usual. Friday night we went to go see one of the infamous Warren Miller films at a huge theatre here in Denver. Needless to say we were pretty pumped to hit the trails on Saturday and see what we could do! After some yummy mexican food at our fav local spot, D'Corazon, we headed home and called it an early night so we would be well rested for our weekend activities. Saturday we went to Breckenridge and again and skiied like there was no tomorrow. The weather was absoloutely gorgeous, think Spring skiing, and the snow was heavenly! Mr. Man surprised me with a great hotel stay for the evening so we coudl get up on Sunday and ski some more before calling it a day. I tell you I am a lucky girl ;) We enjoyed a fabulous steak and lobster dinner and walked up and down main street until we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer. It is weekends like this when I am truly grateful for being given the good fortune of living next to the great Rocky Mountains. I am looking forward to many more weekends like this last one and also perfecting my skiing skills! :) Happy Turkey week everyone and hopefully you all had great weekends as well!!

It's snowing!!

The first snow of the season started to fall here in Downtown Denver about 3 hours ago! I.AM.ELATED!! Sooo excited!! If it is snowing down here you all can only imagine what it looks like in the mountains!

Love it!!

Friday Fun

This weekend my friend will be celebrating her glamorous 30th birthday filled with good friends, laughter, a limo, and who could forget the yummy cake!!! Can't wait. Also, tomorrow we are heading up for our first official ski day. Pay no mind to the fact that it is going to be 75 degrees here in Denver tomorrow, I honestly think mother nature forgot its September. Tonight is going to be nice and relaxing. Maybe a movie, maybe some wine, things might get crazy, haah, just kidding.
Here is just a little preview of the fun we had on Halloween last weekend, enjoy! Happy Friday everyone!!!

Gus, the Ostrich, needed a little lovin'
All three of us ready to go!

Neeeem-ho!!!

Yes you guessed it, I was nem-ho for Halloween. Let's not mistake ourselves here though, have no fear that I was about the least scantily dressed lady in the bar that evening. I doctored the costume up with a tank and a cardigan as well as some tights, so there was no 'ho' in this girls outfit. Halloween was an absoloute blast though. Mr. Man was one of an ostrich jockey, it was one of those big blow up costumes and let me just say...HYSTERICAL!! His outfit was so much fun. He had a big beak and he kept walking up to complete strangers and sticking the ostrich beak into the patrons beer/drink cups. It made for a very fun night! This is going to be a short little post but I will be back tomorrow with some picture udpates!! Happy hump day everyone!

I know, I know

I honestly have no idea what I do with my days anymore. All I know is I get home late fall into bed and repeat it all the next day. I am definitley the type of person who thrives on a busy schedule, but these last couple weeks have been a test! I have been CRAZY busy at work, and I finally for the first time in 3 years, feel like I am accomplishing something that helps the bottom line of the company :) My flag football team is in the semi-finals and I even managed to play last weeks game with a broken ring finger, (I know of all fingers, gasp, hahaha) from the game before. My chili was totally to die for!! Thanks for the helpful hints and suggestions, its was a total hit!! Albeit I did not win and neither did Mr. Man's green chili entry but there was not a drop left in that darn crock pot at the end of lunch. I travelled to Missouri to watch Mr. Man's beloved Sooners take on Mizzou and lets just say it was one heck of a long 11 hour car ride home after that game :( One of my good friends since kindergarten (not a typo) got married two weekends ago in a gorgeous ceremony and reception. It is still so wild to me that we are not boarding the school bus home and we are starting real life AKA marriages, babies, etc. Sooo wild!

so for no I am just trying to stop and enjoy the last couple days of fall before the first snow hits and I am spending my weekends on the ski slopes!! Can't wait for that by the way. I PROMISE you that I will update this blog and look for some fun pictures of the last couple of weeks of activities.

PS I'm thinking with the cold weather out there today, I"m going to have to make a pot of that delicious chili again! Num num num!
